Our Voice, Our Vote Arizona Executive Director Sena Mohammed Responds to Immigration Raids in L.A., Federalization of National Guard

Our Voice, Our Vote Executive Director Sena Mohammed issued the following statement in response to ICE raids in L.A. and Trump’s dangerous deployment of National Guard troops and Marines to the city against the will of the mayor of the city and Governor of California: 

“What we are witnessing in Los Angeles is a rapid escalation in a dangerous authoritarian war on America’s immigrant communities. This isn’t about public safety. It’s about sowing fear, hatred, suspicion, and division in our neighborhoods. 

“Our Voice, Our Vote Arizona stands in solidarity with immigrant communities and protesters in California and across the country. We see these raids for what they are: a coordinated campaign to criminalize Black and brown bodies, to divide working families, and to terrorize communities that already live under constant surveillance and threat. 

“My heart aches for all the people who have been arrested, imprisoned, and deported without any due process — and for their loved ones who have not been able to contact them for days. We must organize, mobilize, and raise our voices. Our liberation is collective — and no one is free until all of us are free.”
